  • 2006-03-30 14:05:00 Sunnyside and Outlook are being upgraded today and may experience communication and data issues

  • 2005-04-20 We had a power supply failure on the server at 3am today. Should be back to normal within an hour.

  • 2005-04-18 The fireblight model has been added back to the system. It needs to be checked for correctness. It will show current heat units based on the previous 96 hours AVAILABLE. Please make sure that the station is up-to-date if you want an accurate estimate.

  • 10/16/2003 We are having some radio telemetry problems with a major repeater. This is causing many of the stations to lag behind. We are working to solve the problem.

  • 02/13/2001 Windows users should be aware that there are currently some bugs in Netscape 6 that cause some problems accessing PAWS. The 4.7x series of Netscape browsers work much more reliably at this point in time.

  • 09/22/2000 The WSU-Tricities station has been taken down today. It will not be collecting data for several days until we can re-locate it. It will be close to where it was.

When graphing raw data, it doesn't give you a partial set and the potato quality model works better (and faster). We will also be upgrading the web server hardware and software sometime very soon...

  • 05/03/2000 A new pyronometer (solar radiation) sensor was installed at Naches on 04/17/2000. The calibration was off. Solar radiation data between 04-17-2000 and 05-03-2000 has been reduced by 25 percent. Reference ET was recalculated for the period.

  • 05/03/2000 We have added Aspect, Slope, Elevation, Contour, and Hillshade maps for many of the stations. More will follow. You may have to re-load the station-image pages depending on how your web browser caches pages.

  • 05/02/2000 Wow, the Puyallup remote site has been up for 425 days without any problems. Who says free software isn't better? The Puyallup site has not been down for one second since Linux was installed. To see how long the rest of the machines have been up, Click on the System Status button. The only downtime we have anymore is caused by System upgrade, Power outage, or bad hardware (in that order).

  • 05/02/2000 It appears that the replacement radio in the Ahtanum station is working fine.

  • 04/26/2000 Generating reports for 15 minute data now uses the label "min air since 7pm" for the min air column as this caused confusion for some.

  • 04/25/2000 Fixed a problem with e-mail going out to users that signed up for a free-trial-week. The return address was wrong: e-mail for PAWS should be sent to wsupaws@perfection.prosser.wsu.edu NOT wsupaws@president.prosser.wsu.edu

  • 04/20/2000 The Roza station had to be reset on 09/29/1999. Some coefficients were entered incorrectly resulting in incorrect data. The following changes have been made to the database table for the Roza Station for the period from 1999-09-29 to 2000-04-13:
  • Wind Direction was multiplied by a factor of 2.0
  • Solar Radiation was multiplied by a factor of 1.13895
  • 2 Meter Wind Speed was multiplied by a factor of 1.1262666
  • Reference ET was re-calculated for the period.

  • 04/20/2000 Updated the PAWS usage statistics. PAWS Usage Wow, looks like we had app. 10,000 data requests in the last month! We had 348,755 GET requests on the PAWS web server in the last 30 days.

  • 04/19/2000 Added a new report: Normals. With over 10 years of data for some sites, it seems appropriate to add a Monthly Normals report. We will update the tables once a month. When reporting the year an extreme event happened, the most recent year is given in instances where there are multiple occurences. Note that this report has much more meaning on stations that have been in place for several years. The Max Precipitation may show some stations that recorded irrigation as precipitation. We will try to isolate these irrigation events and remove them from the database.

  • 04/04/2000 Added two new columns to the degree day model. They show max-base and max-base accumulated. This is used for bud development on fruit trees. See the links inside the model for more information.

  • 04/03/2000 Added two new experimental reports. Fireblight forecast and Apple scab forecast. Please let us know if you find bugs or just send some feedback if you think we should keep developing more of these type of java applets. You may have to download a plug-in for these reports to work, this only has to be done once. If you are using a dial-up account, it may take a little while for the applets to start.

The Puyallup remote site has been transfering data hourly for exactly one year today since Linux was installed without any problems! A new record for PAWS uptime. Mt Vernon would have tied Puyallup, but they had a power outage 92 days ago that lasted longer than the battery backup system. TFREC also had a power outage 14 days ago. It had been up for about 100 days since initial installation with no problems. Oroville has been re-booted twice (for software upgrades) since Linux was installed app. 18 months ago. Hope this notice entry isn't knocking on wood...

  • 01/07/2000 There may be a bug in MS Internet Explorer 5.0 that causes problems when filling out the large report forms on PAWS. After clicking on the Submit Query button in a report, you just get the report header and nothing else. If you have these problems, try an earlier version of IE or try any version of Netscape.

  • 05/17/1999 There has been some confusion over the codling moth model. It now starts at 200 accumulated heat units for the biofix date that YOU provide. If your first catch is May 15th, set the biofix date to May 15th. This will start you at 200 CM Units, which is 1% emergence.
